Quick Recap of Spring Break

Well since we are now "adults" we no longer have the wonderful holiday known as Spring Break. However, we felt like we partially got a break because Ben's Grandma from Alaska, Ben's Mom, Ben's brother Philip and Philip's girlfriend Amanda all came to stay with us for a few days during the week.

We had a great time shopping and just catching up. They all got here on Tuesday evening, we went out to eat with them after work and then went to buy Philip a suit for an interview he had the next morning. What great timing it was, the interview was in Houston and he just happened to already be here with us. I took the day off on Wednesday and all the girls went shopping in the morning while Ben was at work and Philip was at his interview. We went to Borders, Pottery Barn and Macy's. By the time we were done with those we met the boys back at the house for a subway lunch. That afternoon we went to Lowes to get some chairs for the back patio that we had been looking at...since we both have cars we had to wait til a visitor with a bigger car was willing to let us borrow it to go get them. I had to go to a dentist appointment after our chair trip and then met up with everyone after for some burgers at the house. That night we had ice cream and then everyone left the following morning.

So nothing too exciting, but it was great to have everyone over to see the house and we had a great time visiting with our guests! It was a great relaxing couple of days in the middle of a work week. I can't wait to have them over again soon! We love being able to share the house and the area with visitors.

Ben's 23rd (A Little Late)

Well I was going through pictures on my camera and forgot to upload these from Ben's Birthday back on January 31. So here they are. Happy 23rd Birthday baby.

Let me just say...this is no ordinary hat or cake. Ben had been talking about getting this hat for forever. He would make comments every once in awhile that we should make a trip up to College Station to get it. But he didn't want it bad enough to drive the 2.5 hr round trip to get it if he didn't have another reason to go. Well I had another reason so I got it for him. On our anniversary we did not eat the top layer of our cake that we DID keep frozen in our freezer for a year. (that counts right? it made the move with us multiple times) Anyway, since we did not eat our wedding cake on our anniversary (Jan 9th) Ben kept mentioning how much he wished he could have another piece of the cake we had at the wedding...more times then I think he realized. So I called our wedding cake lady and she said she would make us a cake in the same flavor/icing for his birthday. I usually bake him a cake myself but I thought this would be a good exception. So I took a half day from work (without Ben knowing) to drive to College Station to buy him his hat and cake. He was very surprised and happy to see this when he got home from work.

Look at his very convincing "I love my wife" expression ha.

He couldn't believe I was making him blow out candles...I thought by now he would have known me better then that :)

Before cake, we went to our new favorite restaurant Grimaldi's for Ben's Birthday Dinner. And after dinner, our good friends Haley and Zack came over to help us celebrate/eat his cake. What a great night

All Things Pottery Barn

Today I'm dreaming of all things Pottery Barn...a few things on my wish list...

I went to Pottery Barn this weekend and fell in love with this "White Ceramic Pitcher Vase"

Also loving the pink and white cherry blossom branches

Look at the impact they have as a centerpiece (please excuse the bunnies)

I have been drooling over the "Benchwright Buffet"

And my future "Benchwright Table" deserves two pictures

"Benchwright Table"

Always willing to accept those Pottery Barn gift cards...just kidding. I cannot wait to decorate our house more. I am starting to have a vision on how I would like it to look, that's a start right? It all just feels so inviting, maybe that's why I like it so much. Thought's anyone?

Things I'm Loving Thursdays

I saw this on a friend of a friends blog and thought I would give it a shot. Just a few things I am loving today (Thursday). If I do these often enough I think it will be a great reminder of all of the little things I am thankful for.

Orbit Sweet Mint Gum
I am trying to stay away from our office candy jar this lent, and chewing this gum has been a life savor. (I know it's only been two days) but its crazy tempting when Milky Way, Snickers, Twix, M&Ms and 3 Musketeers are staring you down all day. So thank you Orbit for the good clean feeling and sweet flavor that satisfies this girl's sweet tooth.

Weddings!
We have the honor of attending Jeff & Kristen's Wedding this weekend at Ashelynn Manor in Magnolia, TX. The chapel and grounds are beautiful (see picture). We have been to another wedding at this same location and it was such a great time that we are really looking forward to revisiting it and seeing more wonderful friends tie the knot there. Whoop for Aggie Weddings!

New Recipes!
I am not much of a cook...yet (I hope to be someday) but, I do LOVE to bake. A beautiful friend of mine, April Prather, gave me this recipe for blueberry muffins that I am dying to try. I have decided to make them this weekend for our guests that are arriving Monday (more on that later) Thanks April, I can smell the baked goodness already.

That's it for now. I hope yall have a great weekend. More updates soon!
Much Love,
Jenn

Grass Wars

Well this past weekend I spent almost the entire weekend outside (which was awesome) but I was pulling weeds (which wasn't so bad). When I was younger if I was ever assigned this task I was not a happy camper. However, when it's your own home you start to really take pride in the projects that you do for your house. With that being said our house was a foreclosure (on the builder) and it sat empty for 2 years without much care. So our front lawn was completely and I mean completely covered in spiky leafed weeds. And now that they are all pulled up and suffocating in white trash bags our lawn is dirt...literally dirt. No amount of weed/feed or grass seed will save the mess that is our nuclear explosion of a front yard. So now we are looking into re-sodding the yard. Ha oh well, at least during my hard work I got some sun in the process.

I will post some before and after pictures once we figure out exactly what we are going to do... we are still researching the issue. All I can say is bring it on weeds, my hand rake and I are waiting.
