Dirty Dishes- Craft #1

I am not a crafty person... it takes a lot of effort on my part to figure out how to make a craft project look decent and creative. This is where my new love of pinterest comes in. So many people have "pinned" wonderful crafty ideas and step by step instructions on how to create them. I am challenging myself to do a craft a week (or every other week depending on the difficulty or length of time the craft takes to make). Hopefully it will also help me to blog more often. :)

My first project was this cute poem called "Dirty Dishes". I actually don't mind doing the dishes but looking up to my kitchen window ledge I now have a simple reminder to be grateful for the dishes in the sink.

This one is simple I know, but I am proud of my accomplishment. I typed up the poem I found on pinterest and used a free font I found online (also a new concept) called "Elephants in Cherry Trees". I then went to Hobby Lobby and got three different colors of scrapbook paper to make the border. I have a bunch of 5X7 frames left over from wedding decorations so I didn't have to buy a frame. The total cost of the project was $1.50, and I think it's pretty cute. :)

In case you cannot read it the poem is below

Dirty Dishes
Thank heaven for dirty dishes
They have a tale to tell
While other folks go hungry
We're eating very well.
With home and health and happiness
We shouldn't want to fuss
By this stack of evidence
God's very good to us.
